Kharmika Alston, MPP
Food System Finance Fellow
Kharmika Alston served as the Self-Help Credit Union Food System Finance Fellow, a dual appointment with Duke University’s World Food Policy Center. She joined in December 2017 where her role is to provide technical assistance to food entrepreneurs of color that are expanding access to healthy foods in low-income communities. She completed her project in April 2019. Previously she worked at the United States Department of State as a Foreign Service Officer serving in Mexico and the Netherlands. Kharmika holds a Master’s of Public Policy from Duke University (2012) and a Bachelor’s from UNC at Chapel Hill (2009).
