Chrissie Pantoja is an environmental economist studying how climate change, deforestation, and environmental degradation affect human health and economic outcomes. She has conducted impact evaluations of environmental and development policies as a research assistant at Universidad del Pacífico in Peru and as a consultant at the World Bank. Her work focuses on generating policy-relevant evidence on climate-related risks and adaptation in Latin America, including contributions to the Lancet Countdown on Health and Climate Change. Her current research examines how deforestation and climate shocks generate economic and financial risks, with implications for conservation and sustainable finance. Chrissie holds a BS in Economics from Universidad del Pacífico and a Master of Environmental Management from Duke University, where she is pursuing a PhD in Environmental Policy.
