Rujia XieUndergraduate Research Assistant

Rujia Xie (she/her) is a senior at Duke University, majoring in Public Policy and Global Health with a minor in Sexuality Studies. Rujia is originally from Guangdong, China, and moved to San Diego, CA, a couple of years ago. During her time at Duke, Rujia has contributed to Dr. White’s Asset-based Obesity Intervention at the Duke Center for Childhood Obesity Research, and assisted in Dr. Carolyn Barnes’ study on SNAP utilization and food insecurity at the World Food Policy Center. She has also led a research project at the City of Hope titled “Measuring Access to Culturally Appropriate Food and Associations with Diabetes among Asian Americans.” With an interest in food policy, built environment, and health equity, Rujia aspires to reduce chronic disease disparities by advancing asset-based research in public health nutrition and offering culturally appropriate food policy solutions.
