Heather Street

Emerson Fellow

Heather Street is an Emerson Fellow with the Congressional Hunger Center. She holds a BS in cellular biology and a BA in Women's Studies from the University of Georgia. She has been deeply engaged in hunger and community building work, including a position as Senior Hunger Coalition AmeriCorps VISTA where she coordinated an managed a variety of fresh and commodity food distribution programs for food insecurity senior households, serving an average of 280 older adults monthly. She managed a pool of over 100 community volunteers with food insecurity initiatives, planned and managed a volunteer-run community garden, and led collaborative efforts among anti-hunger, civic, academic and business organizations in Athens, Georgia.
