Lianna Gomori-Ruben, M.A.
Graduate Research Assistant
Lianna Gomori-Ruben is a degree candidate for a Master of Environmental Management at Duke University’s Nicholas School of the Environment. She is committed to structuring communities that are diverse, equitable, and environmentally sustainable. Lianna comes to Duke with a background in teaching and labor organizing in New York City. As a founding teacher of the Brooklyn Urban Garden Charter School, Lianna developed the initial literacy, sustainability, and social-emotional learning programs for all grades. Prior to teaching, Lianna coordinated the Brooklyn Botanic Garden Children’s Garden to provide young people with enrichment experiences in gardening and cooking. She also worked on several projects at Urban Agenda, a nonprofit developing a green-collar workforce to remedy environmental problems while creating new jobs. Lianna holds a Master of Arts in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (K-12) from Columbia University and a certificate in Labor Studies from the CUNY School of Labor and Urban Studies.
