Root Causes is a Duke Med-based organization focused on healing the food system through education and outreach, community service, and advocacy. Our key projects include the Fresh Produce Program at the Duke Outpatient Clinic, partnering with the Change Center Community Garden, and working with the Healthy Campus initiative to improve the Duke Health food environment.
Root Causes is a student group based in the Duke medical community that supports the sustainable and humane production of food in combination with access to healthy food. We offer volunteer opportunities through the Fresh Produce Program and would be happy to collaborate on project ideas including the Fresh Produce Program, the Change Center, Healthy Campus Initiative, and Education/Outreach (e.g. event planning, awareness-raising campaigns) with both undergraduate and graduate students.
